Job Overview

The Plant Operations Manager serves as the business site leader and oversees day-to-day plant operations. This senior management role directly oversees the Manufacturing, Quality, EH&S, Facilities and Continuous Improvement functions of the business site. The Plant Operations Manager exercises collaborative influence across the matrixed functions aiding the business site to ensure a cohesive, team-based approach to achieving performance goals. A successful candidate will have extensive cross-functional leadership experience, demonstrated skills in planning and execution, and a track record in delivering desired results.

The is an on-site facility located at our 34,000 sq FT facility in El Cajon, CA

This position requires access to information which is subject to stringent controls under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Job Responsibilities

Essential Duties:

  • Accountable for the safe working environment of the business site. Models a prevention mindset and upholds Safety as a value in the business.

  • Sustains a strong working knowledge of EH&S processes, policies and procedures in order to ensure compliance within the business site

  • Contributes to defining business unit strategy and leads the process of goal and strategy deployment for the business site

  • Accountable for the performance management system of work including the definition of targets to improve, monthly performance targets, and trend-pareto-action plans (TPAP) to address areas of sub-optimal performance

  • Accountable for delivering forecasted results and achieving improvement targets in the core performance areas of the business – safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and productivity

  • Guides and directs the functional leadership team to develop executable forecasts, resource plans and budgets to fulfill customer demand

  • Works on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors. Often required to investigate issues, finds the root cause and apply discernment in defining corrective and preventative actions to complex problems

Routine Duties:

  • Promotes effective talent management at all levels and across all functions of the business site. Effectively manages talent through team leadership, purposeful conversations, and employee development plans

  • Builds strong employee engagement through routine communications, engaging front-line employees, sustaining a trust-based working environment, and taking meaningful actions as a result of employee feedback

  • Establishes the daily management cadence of the site including tier meetings, performance reviews, daily performance management, and issue resolution.

  • Leverages a strong background in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement, moving the plant forwards in its journey of TE Operational Advantage (TEOA) through the planning, and implementation of a LEAN culture

  • Delivers an extraordinary customer experience. Understands the demand from the customer and plans materials and production in alignment with plan. Understands the extended value stream from procurement, through production to delivery and beyond. Focuses on quality requirements of the customer and create an extraordinary customer experience including but not limited to continuously improving ship to request, reduction of customer complaints/issues while balancing cost.

  • Engages in continuous improvement plans to reduce cost and/or lead time. Works across functions to identify savings projects and drive project schedule attainment.

What your background should look like:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or Business required, with 10+ years' experience

  • Requires deep knowledge in EH&S, manufacturing, supply chain and quality management along with demonstrated multi-functional leadership experience

  • Demonstrates learning agility through a willingness and ability to learn from experience and apply learning to perform under new conditions

  • Demonstrates persistence, tolerance of ambiguity, assertiveness, and optimism to effectively lead business site operations

  • Outstanding communication with the ability to collaborate effectively throughout the organization

COMPENSATION

• Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $142,296 – $213,444 (subject to change dependent on physical location)

• Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.

• Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
