Job Overview

The role is for a National Business Development Manager (BDM) for Vietnam reporting to the ASEAN General Manager. Primary focus is working back from end user / asset owner. The objective of the BDM is to create market awareness and demand of TE Energy Solutions in the Industrial and Renewable space. Two main functions include:

  1. Be the Sales Champion for TE’s Industrial and Renewable market segment for whole of Vietnam. The main focus for the BDM is in promoting TE’s solutions and generating demand at the end user.

  2. Grow TE’s share of wallet in the Industrial and Renewable space. Own of a set of customers / accounts across Vietnam, as well as foster new account development. The BDM is responsible for growth of these existing accounts and to develop greater relationships across the industry to support business growth.

The BDM is responsible for identifying and attracting new opportunities and/or projects in order to increase the market share for TE and driving the project pipeline. The role will be responsible for managing all commercial aspects with the customers or accounts, including managing offers, project contracts and quotations, leading price and contract negotiations and following up on current opportunities or projects.

The BDM is responsible for developing and executing the market strategies and plans, customer relationship management as well as promotion activities with the full support of the Product Management team.

The role has national coverage and crosses over into existing accounts. The BDM will also be required to work with the Utility Account Management Team with the goal to collaboratively grow TE’s share of wallet.

The role requires travel and face to face time with customer. Estimated to be around 30 - 50% of the time will need to be in front of customers.

Job Responsibilities

  • National coverage of business development activities across Vietnam

  • Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders (executive level relationships and key decision makers) in the customer, apply consultative selling methodology and leverage these relationships to position TE as a preferred supplier.

  • Networking – Work across Vietnam so TE is known with the ambition of TE being the preferred supplier for all Industrial / Renewable connectivity solution

  • Maintain ongoing and regular direct contact with key stakeholders in the customer

  • Create a Go to Market (GtM) Strategy for the Industrial and Renewable sector and role out with support of the business. Executing this GtM strategy with the support of the TE business. The BDM is responsible for its success.

  • Strategic market / account plans should include:

  • Customer information: buying cycle / process, customer goals, focus growth segments, market share, priorities and strategies, key stakeholders and decision makers, application details, global footprint, Voice of the Customer etc.

  • Relevant market information: markets, market share, competitor SWOT, technologies, trends, environmental changes, political factors, SAM , PAM, TAM details, etc.

  • Growth Information: how to win competition or previously lost business learning, how to gain market share, develop with PM cost out strategy to deliver productivity by still increasing TE’s profitability.

  • Explain and clearly communicate the customer strategic market / account growth plan/s to internal groups (Engineering, Product Management etc), with the objective of giving the business full awareness of market requirements to succeed.

  • Industrial and Renewable demand creation

  • Grows TE’s pipeline to create opportunity visibility.

  • Activities from End user back

  • TE Solution Sell - Work with TE’s business to ensure our offering to market suits end users demands.

  • Package up solutions for Industrial and Renewable Market Segments

  • If required, support cross functional teams in creating business case for product development.

  • Prepare budgets and forecast vs actual performance reporting

  • Actively monitor & maintain KPIs of customer relative to supplier performance standards. Proactively promote the value which TE brings to the customer (with data / results) and work to efficiently service the account.

  • Manage all commercial aspects with the customers / account assigned to the BDM, including managing and preparing offers, project contracts and leading price and contract negotiations, following up on current and potential opportunities and projects and selling the TE value proposition. Use the customer service team and estimator for quoting and support as required.

  • Incremental Pipeline growth leading to revenue in the Industrial and Renewable space

  • Incremental Revenue Growth

  • Market awareness of TE’s Industrial and Renewable Solutions

  • Market share gain (measured during price / contract negotiation)

  • Obtain & maintain Preferred Supplier status at end user of Industrial and renewable customers

Job Requirements

  • University engineering degree (Mechanical engineering, Electrical engineering, Electronics engineering preferred) or business administration degree.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in sales, including but not limited to business development, account planning and relationship management.

  • A good understanding of the Energy landscape in Vietnam

  • Ability to work with deadlines and growing a new market space

  • Mobility: Flexibility for travel

  • Valid driver’s license.

  • High level of written and verbal English communication skills.

  • Strategic thinking with the ability to execute on priorities.

  • Ability to identify and pursue new business opportunities in line with business plans.

  • Fluent in English.
