Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Environmental Health & Safety Teams ensure and monitor safety in the workplace. This includes the application and communication of health, safety and hazardous material standards, procedures and practices consistent with TE, environmental and government regulations.

What your background should look like:

ACTIVITIES:

• Provides hands-on technical assistance and first line supervision of personnel for day-to-day activities; plans and coordinates work and activities of staff to include work assignments and work schedules with responsibility for implementing goals for technical operations, services or projects. Identifies issues and recommends feasible solutions regarding operations, services and/or personnel; provides EHS Manager input regarding annual performance evaluations.

• Manages a subset of EHS Section’s responsibilities (e.g., hazardous waste management is a subset of Chemical/Biological Safety, electrical safety is a subset of Occupational Safety), often including University wide program(s), with accountability for the quantity and quality of the work (e.g., waste pickups) of assigned staff. Conducts and/or oversees inspections and University activities with responsibility to document results on daily, weekly, monthly, or otherwise scheduled routine.

• Responsible for leading EHS personnel in performance of hazard assessments, identifications and determinations using a variety of complex evaluation methods, which may require solving problems inherent with the experimental techniques. Makes initial determinations, evaluates need for further information and recommends the appropriate hazard controls and implementation methodology.

• Researches protocol discussions involving occupational, chemical, biological and/or radiological hazard exposures to ensure design meets regulatory requirements and provides adequate margin of safety. Interfaces with internal and external auditors; implements corrective measures in response to audit findings in collaboration with EHS Manager and operational departments.

• Researches and develops, as needed, straight-forward protocols to address new issues or innovative research related to regulated materials recognition, evaluation, disposition, handling, removal, packaging, transport, storage and disposal.

REQUIREMENTS:

-2 to 4 years of experience in similar roles

-English Advanced

-Comprehensive knowledge of the technical specialty, applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines related to area of expertise.

-Demonstrated supervisory and/or team building skills.

-Proven ability to quickly assess situations through demonstrated problem-solving skills and knowledge of state of the art technology related to their EHS discipline.
